Tim, a member of the Yale Law School class of 1985, served for a year after graduation as a law clerk for the Hon. Caleb M. Wright in the U.S. District Court in Wilmington, Delaware. He then worked for the Hon. Robert M. Morgenthau for almost nine years as an Assistant District Attorney in Manhattan, where he met his wife, Melissa. Tim joined his dad, John P. O’Rourke, in private practice in 1995.
 

Tim’s wife, Melissa, is Chief of the Forensic Sciences/Cold Case Unit under Manhattan D.A. Cyrus Vance, Jr. Melissa and Tim live in Glen Cove, Long Island and have two children, Megan (age 26), who is a labor and delivery nurse at NYP Weill Cornell Hospital in Manhattan, and Tiernan (age 23), who was awarded a Master of Arts in Teaching from James Madison University in Virginia in May 2019.

Tim graduated as a math major from Fairfield University in May 1977. He presently serves as the elected Village Justice for the Village of Roslyn Harbor and has served as Chair of the Glen Cove Historic Preservation Commission and as a member of the Glen Cove Community Development Agency. He sings in the adult choir, is a member of the finance committee and has served as a trustee of St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Glen Cove. He is Past Commodore of the Sea Cliff Yacht Club and is the founder and principal baker at Peggy’s Cove Bread Company, which specializes in handmade artisan bread and authentic Bavarian-style soft pretzels. He was a founding co-owner of Eastline Productions Ltd., a small theater company in Wantagh, NY.

Tim is a member of the National Association of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and the Trusts and Estates and Elder Law Sections of the New York State Bar Association and has presented on Elder Law topics at State Bar meetings and at the Practising Law Institute in Manhattan. His practice areas include Elder Law, Sophisticated Estate Planning, Probate, Estate and Trust Administration and Surrogate’s Court Litigation.
